Historic Night Springs JetHawks to Two Victories

LANCASTER, CA - George Springer hit four home runs in four straight at bats over two games of a doubleheader to help the JetHawks win both games against the Lake Elsinore Storm on Friday night. A crowd of 2,278 at The Hangar watched as Springer became just the third player in California League history to accomplish the feat.
His first home run came in his final at bat of game one. Springer, who had already singled, stolen a base and driven in a run, launched a two-run home run to deep right field to put the JetHawks on top by the eventual final score, 7-2.
Starter Tyson Perez (2-0) picked up the win allowing one earned run in five innings and Patrick Urckfitz notched his third save. Adam Bailey, Erik Castro, and Ben Heath all had RBI-hits while Domingo Santana knocked a RBI-triple in the game.
Springer hit home run number two, this time a line drive over the right field fence, in his first at bat of game two against left-handed starter Mark Hardy.
Home run number three put the JetHawks up 3-0 in the third inning. Springer pulled one to left field, hitting it over the second row of advertisements that stand about 20 feet beyond the fence.
His final home run of the day came in the very next inning. With two outs he hit the first Hardy offering out to left field again for a two-run homer that scored Ben Orloff.
The Storm retired the side in order in the bottom of the sixth, leaving Springer on deck in what would be his final chance to come to the plate on the day. Both games of the doubleheader were seven innings.
In total, Springer went 5-for-7 with four home runs, seven RBI, six runs scored and a stolen base. He batted second in the lineup for the first time this season.
Telvin Nash also hit a solo home run in the second game, his 11th of the season.
Lancaster won game two 5-3. Jose Trinidad got the win to improve to 2-1. The right-hander, making his second start of the season, did not allow an earned run in five innings.
The JetHawks (17-19) and the Storm (17-19) will finish off the series and the home stand on Saturday night at 7:00 pm. Zach Grimmett (1-3, 8.59) will face Donn Roach (6-0, 1.93).
