Yakima Bears News Release

The Yakima Bears have received word from Minor League Baseball that outfielder Justin Hilt has been named the Northwest League Offensive Player of the week for the period of August 1st through August 7th.

Now in his second season with the Bears, Hilt had his strongest week of the season at the start of August.

After starting with a three hit, two home run, four RBI day on August 2nd, Hilt finished the week 6-for-18 with four extra-base hits, six walks, seven RBIs, five runs scored, and a stolen base.

While Hilt is still batting just .179 this season, he has brought his on-base percentage up more than 150 points in the last month.

Hilt is currently tied for third in the Northwest League with six home runs in 2011, which is already two more home runs than Hilt had in all of 2010 when he started his professional career by playing for the Bears.
