Hill City Howlers News Release
Lynchburg, VA - The Atlanta Braves have announced that Luis Salazar will be returning to Lynchburg for the 2012 season to serve as manager of the Hillcats. It will be Salazar's ninth year as a minor league manager and second consecutive year with the Hillcats.
Lynchburg welcomed the Atlanta Braves to town last season and Salazar came in with the new organization.
Hillcats' General Manager Paul Sunwall said, "We were all very excited to become an affiliate of the Braves. Luis and his staff made the transition that much better. He worked well with the team and the front office all year long and we're really happy to hear he's coming back."
Salazar inspired many last season when just over a month after being struck in the face by a line drive foul ball, which led to the removal of his left eye, he was back making his debut as the Hillcats manager for the 2011 season. He would go on to manage all but three games of the season, missing those three in order to see a doctor in Florida and get fitted for a prosthetic eye.
The Hillcats finished 60-78 last year, placing third in the Carolina League Northern Division in both the first and second half.
The 2012 season is set to begin Friday April 6 for the Hillcats as they host the Potomac Nationals at 6:05pm. Season and book tickets are currently on sale. Call the ticket office at 434-528-1144 or visit lynchburg-hillcats.comto reserve your seats today!
