New Haven Ravens News Release

The Eastern League announced its JPMorgan Chase Award Winners today, and Ravens outfielder Dee Haynes won the Rookie of the Year Award.

Haynes, 24, led the league in RBIs with 98, was third in hits (157), fourth in homeruns (21), fourth in extra-base hits (54), fifth in batting average (.312) and fifth in slugging percentage (.510). He was selected to the league's post-season All-Star team in August, and was named to the Double-A All-Star team in July. Haynes was the E.L.'s JPMorgan Chase MVP for May, the month in which he became just the second Raven in team history to homer over the "Green Monster" scoreboard in centerfield at historic Yale Field. The 35-foot high wall is 405 feet from home plate.

In the Rookie of the Year voting, Haynes wound up beating Akron catcher Victor Martinez, who won the Most Valuable Player Award. Haynes was runner up for MVP. Reading righty Ryan Madson was Pitcher of the Year.

Akron's Brad Komminsk was named Manager of the Year, with the Ravens' Mark DeJohn runner up. DeJohn, a native of Middletown, CT, led the Ravens to a 74-65 record and an appearance in the Eastern League playoffs.
