Hawgs announce 2005 NIFL schedule

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Are you ready for some Monday night indoor football?
Four Monday night affairs highlight the inaugural season schedule for the Daytona Beach Hawgs as they take to the field in March 2005.
The Hawgs' Ocean Center debut will be Monday, March 28 against the New Jersey Xtreme. Other Monday events include April 11 against the Billings Outlaw, April 18 against the Lakleland Thunderbolts and May 23rd against the Kissimmee Kreatures.
"Monday night games are always special,'' said Daytona Beach Head Coach General Manager Ervin Bryson. "Daytona Beach is the type of city where Monday Night Football can not only work, but thrive."
One highlight of the schedule will be Saturday, May 7, when the Hawgs host the Miami Morays, coached by NFL Hall of Famer and former Miami Dolphin Larry Little, who played and coached at Bethune-Cookman College in Daytona Beach.
"My first coaching experience was against Brett Favre's dad, but this was incredible experience to match wits with one of the greatest offensive lineman ever to play to the game,'' Bryson said. "I also appreciate what Bethune-Cookman College means to the Daytona Beach community and have a tremendous respect for their football program. I expect to see a lot of Maroon and Gold that night."
The schedule does present some challenges, especially a four-game season-ending road trip that includes a cross-country flight to Everette, Washington. The Hawgs' opening game will be March 19 at the Lakeland Thunderbolts, who will already have one game under their belts after opening their season the week before.
"Champions have to overcome obstacles and the schedule is one of ours,'' Bryson said. "But I guarantee you that the Hawgs will be ready to play no matter the date or the place"
"From a football standpoint, yes, it is not pretty,'' Bryson adds. "But the travel opportunities we have this year are incredible."
