Hawgs add 13 to roster with tryout

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - -The Daytona Beach Hawgs addressed some of their position needs with their second tryout Saturday at Municipal Stadium.
Thirteen players were added to the preseason roster, brining the total to 47 who will attend the National Indoor Football League expansion team's training camp beginning next month.
"We filled some holes, but I'm still not completely satisfied,'' said Head Coach/General Manager Ervin Bryson. "I'm going to have to make a few phone calls and send a few e-mails. I'm pleased with what we have, but there's always room for improvement."
Running backs, linebackers, defensive backs and kickers were the focus of Saturday's workout, which drew approximately 50 aspiring football players to run a 40-yard dash, shuttle drills and individual skills drills.
Among the names recognizable by area football fans is Mikal Goodman, former New Smyrna Beach High standout and former Bethune-Cookman College running back Brad Lee, who led the Wildcats in rushing in the 2003 season. Seabreeze kicker Scott Cornelius and Pierson Taylor defensive tackle Duane Hagstrom were also signed.
