Havoc Plays Extra Hockey Over Weekend

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc went 1-0-2 in three games over the weekend will all three need overtime of a shootout to decide the outcome. The Havoc have now gone into overtime or shootout in the last five consecutive games going 3-0-2 in those games.

Thursday, December 17 - Huntsville 2, Mississippi 3 - OT

BILOXI, MISSISSIPPI - Nick Klaren scored goals in the third period and in overtime lifting the Mississippi Surge to a 3-2 overtime win over the Huntsville Havoc Thursday night.

Dennis Sicard put the Havoc up 1-0 just 2:17 into the game.

Matt Zultek tied the game at 1-1 on a powerplay goal with 1:28 left in the first period but the Havoc would respond just :25 later when Chris Myers scored his first goal of the season.

Dan McWhinney made 28 saves in his second overtime loss of the season. Ryan Senft also made 28 in the win.

Friday, December 18 - Knoxville 3, Huntsville 4 - SO

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc went to a shootout for the third straight home, and game after winning the first two, took this one 4-3 over the Knoxville Ice Bears.

David Segal got Knoxville on the board first with 4:44 left in the first period. Mike Carter would tie the game 1-1 with 3:46 left in the first.

The Ice Bears answered with 2:18 left when B.J. Pelkey scored and Knoxville had a 2-1 lead after one period of play.

Jeff White added a powerplay goal just 3:22 into the second to tie the game at 2-2. Pelkey added his second goal of the night with 13:48 left in the second to put Knoxville back on top. Adam Lukacovic tied the game 3-3 with 5:15 left in the second.

It would take seven shooters in the the shootout before a winner was decided. Jeff White scored the only shootout goal for Huntsville and Taylor Hustead scored for Knoxville and after five shooters the game was still tied. B.J. Radovich ended up with the game winner for the Havoc.

Dan McWhinney made 34 saves in the win while Andrew Gallant made 40 in the loss.

Saturday, December 19 - Mississippi 3, Huntsville 2 - OT

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc fell 3-2 to the Mississippi Surge in the fifth consecutive overtime game for the Havoc.

Nick Klaren scored two goals for the Surge while Matt Larke added one.

Mike MacDonald and Chris Myers scored for the Havoc.

Dan McWhinney made 27 saves in the loss while Bill Zaniboni made 50 in the win.

The Havoc are now 12-2-4 on the season but have picked up a point in 16 of the teams 18 games.
