
Hart tops league's list of broadcasters

MARIETTA, Ga. - The Southern League announced its Year-End Awards today naming Tennessee play-by-play personality Tom Hart as the Broadcaster of the Year, his second such award since joining the team in 2002.
"It's a great feeling," Hart said upon learning about the award. "There are so many talented broadcasters in this league, so I feel honored to win this award again."
He previously won Broadcaster of the Year in his first season as the Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the Smokies in 2002.
Hart began his broadcasting career in 1998 with the Capital City Bombers of the South Atlantic League and spent three seasons with the Winston-Salem Warthogs of the Carolina League prior to joining the Smokies.
In addition to handling the Smokies' play-by-play duties along with broadcast partner Chip Kain, the 1998 graduate of the University of Missouri is working as the lead play-by-play announcer on CSTV's Conference-USA football package this year. His also the host of "Movin' On Up," which airs on BravesVision and CSS.
Tom and his wife Kate live in Knoxville.
