Chattanooga Red Wolves SC News Release
The Red Wolves travelled to Richmond on Saturday night to take on the Kickers at City Stadium. Obleda's side had never lost against the Kickers, winning the first 6 matches in the head-to-head series. The Red Wolves ran the match early creating several chances for Blake Frischknecht up top, who was unlucky not to score as he hit the post and had a shot saved by Fitzgerald in the first 20 minutes of the contest.
The rest of the half saw a fast-paced match with end-to-end action for both sides, with plenty of stoppages for 5 yellow cards in the first half, of which there would be 10 for the match. Ronaldo Pineda played well at fullback throughout the match, putting in several dangerous crosses in the first half. Tim Trilk also left his footprint on the match with a great save to deny Terzaghi on the stroke of halftime, sending the sides to the locker room deadlocked at 0-0.
The second half saw the Red Wolves fly out of the gate controlling the match with a combination of great passing and some solid high pressing. Unfortunately, Richmond would open the scoring in the 52nd minute against the run of play, as Trilk made a fantastic first save but was unable to stop Terzaghi from scoring the rebound for his 14th goal of the season.
David Texeira would come on to make his first team debut in the 59th minute and was lively up top for the Red Wolves in his 30 minutes on the pitch. Marky Hernandez would also come on to attempt to find magic and was inches away from a dazzling outside the box goal in the 71st minute.
Perhaps the best chance of the match fell to Ramos in the 82nd minute, who got a great header on a fantastic cross from Ruiz but was denied by a one-handed stop from Akira Fitzgerald. Minutes later Ramos would receive a second yellow for attempting to kick a soccer ball, putting the away side behind the eight ball for the remainder of the match.
A hard fought performance by the Red Wolves who dominated for large spells of the game would come up just short in the end, as Obleda's side fell to Richmond 1-0 away from home.
