VICTORIA, B.C. - The Victoria HarbourCats continue to add depth to their roster for the 2014 West Coast League season - and they continue to put local talent in the mix.

Right-handed pitcher Brett Hull, a college freshman at Otero Junior College and a product of the Victoria Eagles BCPBL program, is among the latest signees for the second season of WCL baseball at Sports Traders Diamond at Royal Athletic Park.

Hull, a six-foot-four graduate of Lambrick Park, is teammates at Otero with Brandon Feldman, a Victoria Eagles product who is a right-handed pitcher and first baseman for the Rattlers. The 19-year-old was born on Christmas Day in 1994.

"Brett has started to come into his own at college, and he already had some very good tools developing through the Eagles program," said Jim Swanson, General Manager of the HarbourCats. "He is another quality Canadian player added to our roster, joining Brandon Feldman, Alex Rogers, Eric Hegadoren, Kelly Norris-Jones, Griffin Andreychuk, Matt Bryan and Darren Honeysett. That's eight of our 39 players - now we get to enjoy watching them put their best efforts forward."

The HarbourCats continue to draw players from top NCAA schools, and the other players announced today are involved with highly-rated programs.

RHP Tim Peabody is a 6-2/205 freshman at Loyola Marymount with bloodlines that include his uncle Tom, a member of LMU's famous 1989-90 men's basketball team and his mom Nadine being a former LMU softball player. Peabody is from Tustin, California and is expected to be in the LMU rotation as a sophomore. Peabody is 3-1 with a 3.33 ERA in 27 innings spread over 17 relief appearances. In those 27 innings, he's given up just 15 hits while striking out 19 and walking 17. He has yet to give up a college home run.

RHP Sean Watkins is a blue-chip pitching recruit out of Serra High School who will go directly to NCAA Division 1 next fall at Loyola Marymount. Watkins already has a fastball in the low-90s range and was recruited as a player who can handle a middle infield spot and close for LMU. His inclusion on the HarbourCats roster this season will give Head Coach Bob Miller another option as the team shoots for a WCL playoff spot.

Catcher Jake Lesinski, who turns 19 on June 12, is a freshman at Cal Poly, accepting a scholarship with the Mustangs after an outstanding high school career at Edison High in Huntington Beach, California. The 5-11/220-pound right-hand hitter has a plus arm, and hit .365 as a high school senior. Lesinski is backing up at the catcher position this spring and is batting .250 in limited duty, with just one strikeout on the season.

The HarbourCats are looking to open the season with 40-42 players and once all schools are completed their spring season and all players have reported, the final roster will be 34 or 35 players. "Those first few weeks are important to have quality players getting off to a great start, and creating important internal competition to bolster the team," said Swanson.
