HarbourCats Salute Tate

Victoria HabourCats News Release

VICTORIA, B.C. - The Victoria HarbourCats, like the rest of the community, have been bowled over by the community spirit of a Kindergarten student, 5-year-old Tate Parker.

Tate, with compassion well beyond his years, has started collecting sleeping bags to give to the city's homeless, and he literally put his Piggy Bank where his mouth is by offering the $51 in his savings to buy 51 sleeping bags to help Victoria's homeless. The HarbourCats, and our mascot Harvey, have been so touched by this young man's efforts that we want to have him and his family at our opening night game this year, where he can sit in the owners' seats and enjoy the game. And, yes, meet Harvey.

"This has really touched our community, and our organization, and we are also pitching in with this - this young man deserves all our applause for what he's doing," said Jim Swanson, GM/VP of the HarbourCats. "Having Tate at our opening game in June will be our pleasure. No one will be more happy to see Tate that day than Harvey."

Tate's mom says the boy is a big HarbourCats fan, so this only completes the picture.

CHRISTMAS OFFERINGS FROM THE HARBOURCATS

--All merchandise, 20% off with any ticket purchase

The team is pleased to announce Christmas packages now available for those looking for great stocking stuffers or something bigger under the tree.

With any tickets purchase for 2016, pick up something from the merchandise room and get 20% off those items. Included are official team hats, a great supply of snap-back New Era caps, necklaces, beer cozies, Harvey bobblehead dolls, game-worn jerseys, toques, and a clear-out on stock from the 2015 season. Some new items are due to arrive possibly as early as next week, including logo t-shirts and some uniquely branded items such as jackets. As well, the HarbourCats have a selection of baseball gloves at half price, and official HarbourCats jerseys by Rawlings, including the popular Canada Day red version, are able to be ordered with personalization on number and namebar.

Single-game tickets are available for ALL 2016 GAMES, including our Drive for 5,000 Opening Night game, set for June 7 against the Wenatchee AppleSox. Fireworks games (June 30, August 6), Father's Day and Canada Day are among the other popular early-purchase games.

The team is selling 10-packs and season tickets as well - and single-game tickets start as low as $10.

10-packs

--Premium seats, $142

--General (rush) seats, $92

Season tickets (30 games)

--Premium seats, $350

--General (rush) seats, $250

"A season ticket to the HarbourCats costs less than a trip to see one MLB game in the U.S. now with the exchange rate, so we're seeing a lot of people commit to season tickets," said Swanson. "The HarbourCats are the local team and a great way to see top-level baseball and support community groups who take part in programs like our 50-50 program, which has contributed more than $125,000 back to those groups in three seasons. The Blue Jays really energized Canada last summer and fall, and the way to get your local baseball fix is to keep filling up Royal Athletic Park - HarbourCats baseball is growing."

FESTIVAL OF TREES - The Victoria HarbourCats are proud to be carrying the torch as the only area sports team with a tree at the Festival of Trees, benefitting the B.C. Children's Hospital Foundation and taking place this year at the Bay Centre (formerly, the event was at The Empress.) The HarbourCats have teamed with the Greater Victoria Baseball Association to pull off what is an amazing tribute to baseball - we think everyone will agree. The tree is now on display at the Bay Centre, check it out!
