HarbourCats Re-Sign Mitchell, Add to Pitching Depth

VICTORIA B.C. - The Victoria HarbourCats have signed their eighth returning player from the 2015 squad in left-handed pitcher Josh Mitchell, a junior from the University of Pittsburgh. The West Coast League club announced his signing on Wednesday along with another junior, Holden Lyons, from Oklahoma City, and a pair of young arms from Everett Community College.

Josh Mitchell is a junior left-handed pitcher at the University of Pittsburgh (NCAA Div. 1; ACC). The native of Ridgway, PA was a valuable member of the HarbourCats pitching staff a year ago going 2-2 with three saves in 12 appearances in Victoria in 2015 with 23 strikeouts in 22 innings. He is currently 0-1 through five appearances this spring for Pittsburgh.
Holden Lyons is a shutdown bullpen arm at Oklahoma City University, a perennial NAIA baseball powerhouse. As a sophomore, Lyons posted a 2.22 ERA, six saves and an 8-3 record with 62 strikeouts in 48.2 innings pitched. He is repeating his success as a junior, currently holding a 2.21 ERA and two saves in 12 appearances, with 15 strikeouts in 20.1 innings pitched.
Christian Jarnagin is an exciting young arm from Mill Creek, WA. He has made 4 appearances, 3 starts so far in his sophomore year at Everett Community College and is 2-0 with a save, maintaining a 3.15 ERA. In 20 innings, Jarnigan has allowed just 11 hits and 5 walks with 17 strikeouts.
Brandon Lane is a promising freshman pitcher at Everett CC. A native of Bothell, WA, Lane is 1-1 with a 3.37 ERA in 6 appearances, 1 start. In 13.1 innings pitched he has surrendered 13 hits and 9 walks against 11 strikeouts.
More news and signings will be announced in the weeks leading up to the June 3 season-opening game in Walla Walla. The HarbourCats first regular season home game is just 62 days away on June 7 against the Wenatchee AppleSox.
The HarbourCats 2016 roster currently stands at 46 players.

The HarbourCats have seen an increase in season ticket sales and sales of 10-packs and single-game tickets are progressing at a brisk rate. Fans are encouraged to secure your seats early as selection will continue to become more limited as the season draws nearer.
"We recommend, especially with our affordable prices, that people come in and secure their seats - the sooner, the better," said Managing Partner Jim Swanson. "To buy a premium season ticket for the 2016 HarbourCats is less than the cost of travel, etc., to see one Mariners game in Seattle, and we work hard on all aspects of the program to keep our games affordable for everyone."
