
HarbourCats Miss Chance to Sweep NightOwls, Ready for Key Home Series

NANAIMO, B.C. -- Turn the page, get ready to beat the Bells.
The Victoria HarbourCats dropped a 13-5 decision to close out a series at Serauxmen Stadium in Nanaimo, giving up 16 hits and striking out 12 times to close out a three-game set with the NightOwls -- after the HarbourCats took the first two games of the series.
Tate Shimao was 3-5 with two runs and two driven in, including a home run in the second inning, part of a 10-hit attack for Victoria. Kerim Orucevic was also 3-5, while Sky Collins had two runs driven in.
Ryne Palmer started for the HarbourCats and gave up five hits and three runs in there innings, striking out three. Holden Hess, Dustin Davidson, Garrett Villa and Chris Gaudio also handled pitching duties for Victoria.
The HarbourCats scored two runs in each of the seventh and eighth innings, but the pitchers gave up big numbers in the third, fourth, fifth and eighth innings.
The HarbourCats now get ready to play at Wilson's Group Stadium at RAP against the rival Bellingham Bells, games Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, with large numbers of youth baseball teams expected to swarm the park this weekend.
