HarbourCats, Christie-Phoenix Insurance, VSN Present Ballpark 5K

February 19, 2018 - West Coast League (WCL) - Victoria HabourCats News Release

Victoria, BC - The Victoria HarbourCats, Christie-Phoenix Insurance and Victoria Sports News are teaming up to put on a foot race at Royal Athletic Park (RAP) on Saturday, June 23 at 1:00 pm, ahead of the HarbourCats game that evening against the Bellingham Bells.

The 5K race, presented by Christie-Phoenix Insurance in conjunction with Victoria Sports News, will involve just over seven laps of a route set up within the confines of RAP, using areas within the baseball playing field, as well as the area beyond the right field fence opposite the soccer grandstands. A kid's race will also be available for age 12 and under. The distance will be approximately 1.5K.

"It will be fun," shared Managing Partner of the HarbourCats, Jim Swanson. "It will be a unique race experience, as runners will get to enjoy taking in part of the baseball field, where the HarbourCats practice and play."

Participants registering for the race will also receive tickets for the HarbourCats game later that evening against the Division rival Bells, souvenir race shirts, and medals for top three male and female finishers. They will also be eligible for a range of draw prizes throughout the day.

"The nice thing about putting on the race at RAP will be the baseball afterwards," noted Christopher Kelsall, the race director and owner of Victoria Sports News. "After a good, hard race it is rewarding to sit back and relax and the HarbourCats do such a great job with refreshments, food trucks and vendors, not to mention fielding a pretty good baseball team. It's a great atmosphere."

Registration for the main race is $40 and for the kid's race is $10. Participants may register at the links below:
