Alabama Hammers News Release
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Alabama Hammers have added a pair of former North Alabama stars to their roster. Hammers coach Marty Hammond announced Wednesday that former Lion linebacker Nicholas Walker and ex-UNA defensive back Darron Dampier have signed with the squad and are expected to report for training camp in late February.
"These are a pair of quality defensive players that have been standouts at a premier institution,'' Hammond said. "They have plenty of strength and speed, and will be a great addition to this team."
Walker (6-foot-2, 260 pounds) had 64 tackles, two sacks and an interception as a senior in 2009, while Dampier (5-11, 180) had 26 tackles and a pair of picks in his '09 senior campaign.
