Hammers Payne Selected to All-SIFL Team

LAKE CHARLES, La. - Led by five Columbus Lions and three Houston Stallions on the first team, the Southern Indoor Football League recently announced its all-league selections .
Columbus led with eight players selected overall - five on the first team and three on the second. Houston followed with seven - three on the first team and four on the second.
Alabama Hammers linebacker and former Alabama A&M star Darian Payne was selected to the second team defense. In 11 games for the Hammers, Payne totaled a team second-best 35 tackles (20 solos, 30 assists), led the team with eight interceptions and added a sack.
The Erie Explosion, Rio Grande Valley Magic, Trenton Steel and Louisiana Swashbucklers each had two first-team selections. The champion Albany Panthers had one first team selection - defensive back Lavance Richmond - and three on the second. Three extra spots were created to reflect ties in the voting.
