
Hammers Fall In First Of Three Road Games

After falling behind early, the Alabama Hammers posted a strong comeback, but fell to the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks 50-31 in the first of three consecutive road games. In a rare Sunday afternoon game in the Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL), the Hammers trailed 36-15 at halftime to the league's first place Steelhawks (6-2) and suffered six turnovers in the loss.
Quarterbacks Garrett Sutphen and Anthony Speight split duties as signal callers for the Hammers and passed for over 300 yards and four touchdowns. Mico McSwain (8/164) grabbed three scoring passes and Charlie McClain (12/117) added one TD catch.
The Steelhawks countered with dual-threat quarterback Shane McSweeny who passed for three scores and ran for three more accounting for six touchdowns for the game.
The Hammers (3-5) will have a much needed week off before heading back out on the road for its second of three away games when the squad will face the Trenton Freedom in Langhome, PA. on Saturday, May 30, with kickoff at 6:00 p.m. CDT.
