COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Alabama Hammers only trailed by seven points at halftime, but couldn't pull any closer Thursday night and faded late in a 62-27 loss to the Columbus Lions at the Columbus Civic Center.

The Hammers fell to 3-7 on the Southern Indoor Football League season, while Southern Division-leading Columbus improved to 9-1.

With starter Kevin Eakin out, Matt Martin threw a pair of touchdown passes to former North Alabama standout Mico McSwain, and ex-UNA kicker Kenny Spencer had 23 and 44-yard field goals that kept the Hammers close at 38-27 heading to the final quarter in the loss.

The Hammers return home on June 4 to host the Fayetteville Force at the Von Braun Center's Propst Arena. Kickoff is set for 7:35 and the first 1,000 fans 14-and-under will receive a Kids Jersey compliments of Huntsville Hospital and TOC.
