
Hammers Cruise over Knoxville in PIFL Regular Season Finale

KNOXVILLE - It was a satisfying end tothe 2013 Professional Indoor Football League regular season for theAlabama Hammers.
The Hammers rode the arm ofquarterback Russel Hill, made timely plays on defense and cruised toa 55-32 victory over the Knoxville Nighthawks at Civic Coliseum.
Now playoff-bound Alabama - whichimproved to 10-2 and wrapped up the league's No. 1 postseason seedwith the win - will host fourth-seeded Albany on July 1 at the VonBraun Center's Propst Arena in the first round of the PIFL playoffs.
Hill completed 26 of 36 passes for 294yards and four touchdowns. Charles McClain paced the Hammers with 11receptions for 141 yards and a touchdown with CJ Johnson adding ninecatches and a pair of scores. Fullback Dan Ross also ran for threetouchdowns.
"The guys got the job donetonight,'' said Alabama coach Dean Cokinos, whose team avenged a homeloss to Knoxville earlier in the season.
"Russel was solid and our defensiveeffort was strong. Now it's time for a little rest and time to getready for the playoffs. I'm proud of this bunch."
The Hammers led 17-15 after the firstquarter and extended that advantage to 34-25 at halftime behind apair of Ross' 1-yard runs and Brian Jackson's 18-yard field goal atthe horn.
Alabama then limited the Nighthawks(2-10) to a mere touchdown in the second half and cruised with Rossadding another 1-yard score and Johnson hauling in a 4-yard touchdownfrom Hill with 6:37 to play.
