Wilmington Hammerheads FC News Release

Wilmington, NC - Wilmington Hammerheads FC is scheduled to host Sacramento Republic FC on Saturday, August 30 at 7:30 p.m. ET at Legion Stadium. Looking to clinch one of the final four playoff positions, the Hammerheads recently moved into seventh place after claiming a 3-1 victory over league-leader Orlando City Soccer Club on Thursday night.

This will be the second time Wilmington and Sacramento meet on the pitch in just over a week after Republic FC hosted the Hammerheads and took a 2-0 victory on the West Coast in front of sold-out crowd at Bonney Field. Thomas Stewart opened the scoring in the 15th minute after Justin Braun placed a through-ball toward Hammerheads goalkeeper Brad Stuver forcing him to come off his line and charge Stewart one-on-one.

Sacramento increased their lead to 2-0 in the second half after defender Emrah Klimenta stole the ball and sent a low drive past Stuver moments later in the 76th minute.

Republic FC currently holds the second position in the league standings behind Orlando City and has already claimed a spot in the playoffs with home advantage in the first round.

The Hammerheads are scheduled to host their final regular season home match on Wednesday, September 3 versus Orlando City at 7:30 p.m. ET at Legion Stadium.
