Hammerheads Sit One Point from Playoffs

Wilmington, NC - Wilmington Hammerheads FC is in pursuit of claiming one of the final three slots in playoffs as they travel to play their final two matches of the regular against Dayton Dutch Lions FC on Friday, September 5 at 7:00 p.m. ET at DOC Stadium and the Rochester Rhinos on Sunday, September 7 at 4:05 p.m. ET at Sahlen's Stadium.
The Hammerheads enter Friday's match following a scoreless draw against Orlando City Soccer Club, whom earned the title of 2014 USL PRO Regular Season Champions on Wednesday night at Legion Stadium. A victory on Wednesday night would have earned Wilmington a definite position in the playoffs. Adding only one point to the league standings, the Hammerheads now sit one point away from clinching a position in the postseason contest.
Wilmington and Dayton last met on the pitch in early August with the Dutch Lions claiming a 2-1 victory following a Karamba Janneh penalty kick in stoppage time. Dayton took an early lead in the 18th minute off a Joe Broekhuizen goal, but was soon equalized by Hammerheads forward Cody Arnoux minutes later.
Friday's match can be viewed live on the Dayton Dutch Lions' YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/DutchLionsGateway . Fans are encouraged to join the Hammerheads organization at Buffalo Wild Wings on Old Eastwood Road in Wilmington to support the team as they play at DOC Stadium.
The Hammerheads clinched a 1-0 victory at Sahlen's Stadium when they last encountered the Rhinos in mid-July. Former Hammerheads player and Toronto FC loanee Jordan Hamilton scored the lone goal in the final 13 minutes of the match to lift Wilmington over Rochester for the win.
