Hammerheads Return Home to Take on Harrisburg
June 2, 2016 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Wilmington Hammerheads FC News Release
Wilmington, NC - Bringing home three points, and two wins, the Hammerheads look to continue their winning momentum from a busy week on the road.
After a win in Toronto, and an advancement to the fourth round in the 2016 Open Cup, the Hammerheads will take on Harrisburg City Islanders tomorrow night at Legion Stadium, with a 7pm kick-off. Harrisburg currently sits in ninth place, compared to the Hammerheads eleventh, but are only one point ahead in the standings.
Head Coach Mark Briggs stated, "We have had a long, but very successful, week. Although we return to Wilmington exhausted, we look to maintain our winning momentum against Harrisburg tomorrow night." He continued, "Rain or shine, we want to bring home a third win of the week in front of our dedicated fans. The boys had a fantastic performance last night against Miami, and another in Toronto. We hope to do nothing but continue to improve and win."

Over the past week, Hammerheads #8 Mael Corboz achieved his first professional goal, along with #23 Bruno Perone's fourth of the season, and #9 Matthew Barnes-Homer's second of the season.
Following a successful regular season match in Toronto, the Hammerheads #19 Jeff Michaud and #10 Justin Moose scored in the third round of the Open Cup.
Coach Briggs elaborated on his team's performance, "We are finally catching our stride as a team. If you compare our 'new' team to one that's played together for years, such as the Richmond Kickers, we have developed into a cohesive team. Having kept only six players from last season, it was going to be a challenge bringing a brand new team to the USL. But we are training well on and off the field, which is critical."
As the team prepares to hang onto their winning streak, possible players to keep an eye on are defender Perone, midfielder Corboz, and striker Barnes-Homer.
