JUPITER, FL - For the second straight weekend, Roger Dean Stadium does not appear to be kind to Stone Crabs pitching. Less than a week after dropping the deciding game of their series in a 13-9 loss to the Cardinals, the Stone Crabs were back for their first meeting with the Hammerheads. Jupiter, losers of two straight, quickly jumped on top and used two big innings to take the opening game in convincing fashion by a final of 12-1.

Any hope for a strong start from Leonel Santiago quickly went away after a leadoff triple in the first by Hammerheads catcher Austin Barnes. One pitch later, Ed Lucas rolled a grounder down the right field line and it was 1-0. After a walk to Colin Moran, Viosergy Rosa cranked a deep drive to right field that Kes Carter grabbed at the warning track with a leaping catch. After Santiago hit Matt Juengel to load the bases, Cameron Fly drove a sacrifice fly to left for a 2-0 lead. Ross Wilson and Noah Perio then came up with back-to-back RBI singles, and the score was quickly 4-0.

Jupiter wasn't done in the second once Barnes opened the inning with a hard hit double to start the merry-go-round. A walk to Lucas and a single by Moran loaded them up once again before Santiago got Rosa for the second time with a strikeout. Juengel then cleared the bases with a hard hit double to the left field wall, and in the blink of an eye, the Hammerheads had a 7-0 lead.

The Stone Crabs tried to make a little noise in the third with a leadoff single by Andrew Toles. He quickly stole second and got pushed to third on a groundout by Tyler Goeddel for the first out. Tommy Coyle's RBI groundout to second brought in the run, but the scoring was over despite a two out double by Patrick Leonard. In the home half, Barnes led off with a single against Nick Sawyer, who then walked Lucas to put a pair of runners on base. A strikeout of Moran brought up Rosa, who came through in his third at bat with a home run inside the right field foul pole for a 10-1 lead.
