Jackson Generals News Release

Biloxi, Miss. - Former Shucker Brooks Hall turned in his best performance of the year against his old team as the Generals shut out Biloxi 1-0 at MGM Park Tuesday night. Hall and three Jackson relievers combined on the team's second-straight shutout and fourth of the season, while Rudy Flores provided a solo home run for the offense.

Hall (1-0, 5.06) started the inaugural game for the Shuckers in 2015 and spent much of the last two seasons with Biloxi. In his first start against his old team, he turned in six nearly spotless innings. The righty allowed just four hits without walking a batter while striking out a season-best seven batters. Biloxi (7-12) only got one runner into scoring position against Hall.

Jackson (12-6) only managed one run Tuesday night after scoring 11 the night before, but it was enough. Rudy Flores led off the fifth inning with a solo shot to right-center, putting the Generals on top 1-0. That was the only run surrendered by Biloxi's Luis Ortiz (0-3, 3.72), but it wound up being the difference.

Behind Hall, three relievers finished off the shutout. Daniel Gibson allowed one hit in the seventh before things got interesting in the eighth. Biloxi loaded the bases against Joey Krehbiel in the eighth on a pair of walks and a hit batter. With a full count, Krehbiel punched out Michael Reed to end the threat.

Gabriel Moya (S, 2) was untouchable in the ninth en route to his second save. The 22-year-old struck out Jacob Nottingham and Clint Coulter looking before ringing up Angel Ortega to finish the contest. In 10.1 innings of work so far this season, Moya has 18 strikeouts compared to five walks.

The shutout was Jackson's fourth of the year, and it was the second time the team managed a 1-0 victory as well. The Jackson staff has combined to allow just one run over the last 22 innings against Biloxi. The Shuckers have scored just five runs over four games this series.

The victory combined with Montgomery's loss earlier in the day puts Jackson on top of the North Division by two games. The Generals are now just a half-game behind Pensacola for the best record in the Southern League.

Jackson plays its final game at MGM Park Wednesday morning in the finale of the five-game series. Newly promoted Iván Pineyro (0-0, --) takes the ball for the Generals opposite Biloxi's Angel Ventura (0-1, 2.53). First pitch from the Gulf Coast is slated for 10:35 am CT, and you can catch all the action on the TuneIn Radio App starting with the Pregame Show at 10:20 am CT.
