Halifax Rainmen News Release
(Halifax,NS): The Halifax Rainmen bounced back from a heart breaking loss Monday night, and turned in a dominanting performance, taking game two from Moncton in a lopsided 129-94 victory Tuesday evening. With the victory their first round series against the Miracles is all tied up at one game apiece.
Wanting to erase the memories of game one, Halifax came out strong, going on a 7-0 run to start the game. They would keep Moncton at bay throughout the first 12 minutes, holding the slim 24-19 point lead heading into the second quarter of play. The Rainmen did a good job of neutralizing Moncton's offensive weapons in the first half, and caught a break when Travyon Lathan of the Miracles got into foul trouble early, limiting his play through the first 24 minutes. In the second quarter Halifax would recover from a few defensive miscues to close out the half with a 13 point lead, 58-45, over the Miracles. Both teams made adjustments to their game heading into the final 24 minutes, but much like game one, Halifax dominated the third frame, increasing their lead to 17, 83-66, to close the quarter. Heading into the final quarter of play in a similar situation to game one, Halifax made no mistakes this time, pouring on the offense and shutting down the Miracles in the fourth. The Rainmen put up 46 points in the final frame to tie the series and make a big statement in the process.
Kevin Young led all Rainmen scorers and rebounders, as he recorded his second straight double double with 27 points and 17 rebounds. Forrest Fisher put away 20 points off the bench, and Nigel Spikes contributed 13. Liam McMorrow also had a double double for Halifax, with 12 points and 11 boards. Moncton's offense was led by Daquan Brooks who had 22 points and 7 rebounds. Shawn Vanzant chipped in 20, and Chris Matthews contributed 15.
Game three goes Sunday, March 8th, at 2pm inside the Moncton Coliseum. Space is still available on Halifax's Fan Bus. If you would like to be a part please call (902)444-7246(RAIN) to reserve your spot and ticket for only $35.
