Halifax Rainmen News Release

Halifax, N.S. This weekend, the ABA Halifax Rainment debuted the team's trading card, a first for the ABA. A sample card from the package was given away free to children in the game against the Montreal Royal.

"I couldn't be more thrilled about this new promotion. The Rainmen are all about the kids. Now these special fans will have a chance to collect the cards of all of their favorite players, maybe even the entire team," said team owner Andre Levingston. "I think even some grown-ups will begin collecting," he added.

The cards are being provided by one of the Rainmen sponsors, Pinky's Ice-Cream. Owner Kevin Riles is really proud to be a part of this new project. "I love to collect trading cards when I was a kid; in fact, I still love it today. So when Pinky's was asked to participate in the establishment of Rainmen Cards, it was a no brainer."

Pinky's Ice-Cream has 5 locations throughout metro, opening May 3rd. "We have plans post season to make the cards available at all our locations," added Riles.

The cards will be sold in packages, and those will be made available at the games and on the Rainmen website as soon as possible. The Rainmen and Pinky's will launch several contests with fantastic prizes for the discovery of rare cards, and for the collection of the complete team which will include the coach, the owner, Thunder and the Weather Girls. Children at the game Sunday were given a demo sample of the first ever card for free while supplies lasted.
