Georgia Gwizzlies News Release
The American Basketball Association Macon, Georgia Gwizzlies opens it's 2007-08 season on the road tonite against the Houston Takers and Saturday nite will play the West Texas Whirlwinds.Even though the team will be without NBA camp prospect 7"2 Charlie Ludwig until mid-January,Owner Embry Malone believes that the team will excel and reach it's goal of reaching the ABA Super 8 Finals.
"I spoke with Ludwig dad yesterday and he said his son was eager and anxious to get rehabbed on his knee after he witness his teammates get blown out in two road exhibition ballgames says Malone. "I told Ludwig dad that this team was built around his son and when we start our March Madness we want him ready" states Malone.
The Gwizzlies five tonite will be 6"7 Brian Festog,6"7 James Webb,6"7 Mike Davis,6"7 Ron Jackson and potential ABA All-star 6"3 Mike Toth. A surprise player during the exhibition season was 6"1 Stuart Mitchell of Paulding County."For those who missed the fire and antics of former Boston Celtics guard Danny Ainge,Stuart is like a clone states Malone.www.gwizzliesbasketball.com
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
