Gurskis named Sher-wood Player of the week

[Kissimmee, Fla.] -The Florida Seals are proud to announce Player/Assistant Coach John Gurskis has been named the Sherwood Player of the Week. Each week the Southern Professional Hockey League selects a player who has had the most outstanding week on the ice.

Gurskis has led the Seals throughout the first three weeks of the season. The Brockton, Mass. native played in three games last week registering five points with two goals and three assists.

The veteran is currently in his ninth season of professional hockey and third year as an assistant coach. Gurskis leads all Seals players with 10 points (5G, 5A), a +6 rating, 29 shots and two power play goals.

The Seals head back to the ice Thursday night when Fayetteville comes to the Silver Spurs Arena. The 7:35 pm puck drop will be "Military Appreciation Night." After the game the Seals will auction off their special military jerseys to fans in attendance with a silent and live auction.
