San Diego Gulls News Release

FRESNO, Calif. –– Rookie Miguel Delisle netted the game-winner with 1:39 to play, lifting the San Diego Gulls to a 4-2 win over the Fresno Falcons Saturday night, before 3,511 at Selland Arena. San Diego now leads the best-of-seven championship series 3-2. The Gulls grabbed the early edge, scoring a pair of tallies 27 seconds apart in the first period. Trevor Sherban got things started for the Blue and Orange with a power-play goal at 13:02, slapping one by a screened Terry Friesen for his third of the playoffs. Bruce Watson then gave San Diego a 2-0 lead with his first postseason goal at 13:29, rocketing a slap shot by Friesen from the top of the slot. Watson was a scratch in five of the Gulls' previous nine playoff games. The Falcons tied the game with two goals of their own in the second period. Rob Bonneau cut the Gulls lead in half with his league-tying sixth goal at the 9:06 mark, squirting the puck by Trevor Koenig. It was Bonneau's fourth goal of the finals and extended his point streak to seven games. Glen Gulutzan notched his fifth at 14:10 of the middle frame to knot the contest, 2-2. Kris Porter held the puck at the side of the net and finally lifted a shot that rebounded to Gulutzan, who tapped it in. It looked like teams were heading to overtime for the second straight game, but Delisle made sure that didn't happen with the game-winning marker at 18:21 of the third. Mark Pederson fed Delisle, who got off a weak wrist shot from the slot. Friesen couldn't control it though and defenseman Tyler Prosofsky knocked the puck in. It was Delisle's third goal of the playoffs. Dean Tiltgen sealed the victory with an empty-netter at 18:37 for his sixth postseason goal. Notes: Tiltgen is now riding a seven-game point streak... Colin Embley, Friday night's overtime hero, had his five-game point streak snapped... Clayton Read missed tonight's game with concussion-like symptoms...
