
Gron's Hat Trick Buries Rush 4-1

(Bloomington, IL) - Tyler Gron came into Friday's game against the Rapid City Rush leading the Bloomington Blaze in goals, and added to it by netting a hat trick in a 4-1 win at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum. The Rush and Blaze are back at it tomorrow night at 6:05pm MST and the game can be heard live on 100.3 the FOX.
Midway through the first period, the Rush nearly potted the first goal when Jarrett Konkle rang a shot off the post right off a faceoff. However, moments later, Tyler Gron netted his team-leading thirteenth goal of the season, banking home a wrist shot from the left circle. Gron would strike again with only nine seconds left in the period, burying a powerplay goal set up by Nicklas Lindberg Sebastien Trudeau to make it 2-0 at the first intermission.
After a scoreless second, the Blaze added to their lead with a powerplay goal from leading scorer Jon Booras who was left alone at the front of the net for an easy tally 1:43 into the third. The Rush finally received a breath of life at the 3:08 mark when defenseman Kyle Peto blasted in his fourth goal of the year from the high slot making it 3-1. However, with less than ten minutes remaining, Gron completed the hat trick, undressing a pair of Rush defenseman before snapping a wrist shot five hole for the 4-1 final.
