Frisco Thunder News Release
ANCHORAGE, Ak. (June 11, 2008) -- It's as beautiful as they say.
The mountains are majestic. The air is crisper. The King Crab at the nearby restaurant is sweeter and fresher.
Then again, after eight hours in the air, half of sitting that next to an offensive lineman, I'd be going all papal-like and kissing the ground at Newark International after experiencing the logistical trial that is air travel these days.
Then there's the adjustment period. You try waking up from a nap at 9 p.m. and find that the Laker game is over and then walking home from dinner an hour later with the sun still over that horizon. The body's still on Dallas time and the brain has never, ever switched over from Leno and Lettermen starting at 11:30.
The gripes are minor, though, when you realize this is a once or maybe twice in a lifetime opportunity. Coach Esprit and the players will be spending Wednesday getting ready for a game. I can play travel writer and catch a trolly to take in some sights.
At least that's the plan.
