Augusta GreenJackets News Release
Salisbury, MD: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, won a wild game 8-7 Saturday night against the Delmarva Shorebirds.
The GreenJackets came out ready to play. They scored three runs in the top of the first to set the tone. RBI singles came off the bats of Ryan Kirby, Orlando Garcia, and Logan Baldwin in the inning.
Garrett Cave had no intentions of giving up the early lead his teammates gave him. Cave was dominate in earning his first win of the season. He went five scoreless innings only giving up two hits and striking out four batters.
The GreenJackets then added to their lead in the sixth and seventh innings putting up five runs. They took a 8-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning. The Shorebirds did not give up, putting up six runs and making it a ballgame.
The GreenJackets turned to Frank Rubio for the six out save. In the eight inning, he retired the Shorebirds easily in order. Then in the ninth inning, he ran into some trouble giving up one run. After an intense couple of at bats, Rubio finally got the last batter to fly out to left field to secure victory. This is the sixth save for Rubio this season.
