
Green, Montoya named CBL players of the week

Fort Worth 3B Terence Green and Edinburg's Eric Montoya were chosen by SportsTicker, the Central League's official statistician, as Batter and Pitcher of the Week for the week of May 9-May 15.
Green went 11-for 27 with three doubles, two home runs and seven RBI for a .407 batting average and a .741 slugging percentage in six games. The Cats went 4-2 during the week, including a sweep of Edinburg over the weekend, and are now in first place.
In his sixth season in the Central/Texas-Louisiana League, the Plano, Texas, native spent his first four seasons with the Ozark Mountain Ducks, batting .281 in 2000 and .286 in 2002. He moved to Fort Worth in 2004, where he hit .273 with 8 HR, 23 doubles, and 53 RBI.
Montoya dazzled in his only appearance of the week, giving up only one hit in eight innings of work in Edinburg's 4-0 victory over El Paso on Thursday. After two starts, Montoya has a miniscule 0.69 ERA for the 4-5 Roadrunners.
The Corpus Christi, Texas, resident is also in his sixth season in independent baseball, having previously pitched in the Frontier League before joining the Roadrunners in 2003. The 25-year-old has amassed a 25-6 record over three seasons in Edinburg, led the league in wins with 14 in 2003, and was third in wins with 10 in 2004.
