Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Brandon, MB. -- The Brandon Wheat Kings and Moose Jaw Warriors have completed a Western Hockey League trade.
Wheat Kings' coach and general manager Kelly McCrimmon has announced that veteran defenceman Taylor Green has been dealt to the Moose Jaw Warriors in exchange for a fifth round pick in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft.
A 19-year old native of Port Coquitlam, B.C., Green had one goal and and two points in four games this season, after scoring ten assists in 65 games for the Wheat Kings in 2013-14.
A former second round bantam draft choice, the Wheat Kings acquired Green from the Seattle Thunderbirds in August 2013.
As a result of Sunday's deal, the Wheat Kings have twenty-four players on their active roster - two goalkeepers, eight defencemen and 14 forwards.
The 5-0-1-0 Wheat Kings return to action Thanksgiving weekend with three games in three nights, beginning Saturday night in Red Deer against the Rebels.
Brandon is coming off Saturday's 7-1 win over Red Deer, completing a 2-game weekend home stand that saw the club collect three of a possible four points.
The Wheat Kings next home game is Friday, October 17th against the visiting Swift Current Broncos.
