Indiana Ice News Release

The Eastern Conference champion Indiana Ice came into tonight's game riding high, following a 9-1 pasting handed to Dubuque two nights prior.

Whatever "mojo" Indiana had on Wednesday was left at Pan Am Pavilion as the Ice closed out their 2013-2014 regular season on the wrong end of a 4-2 score against the Green Bay Gamblers before 6,404 onlookers at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Green Bay looked every bit of a desperate team as they controlled most of the play throughout the game. The Gamblers struck first at the 6:48 mark as Ryan Siroky put up the first tally with his 11th goal of the season.

Indiana responded quickly with Scott Conway netting his 32nd goal of the season and fifth in the past 72 hours on the man-advantage. The goal tied Conway for second place in the USHL goal-scoring race. Patrick Newell and Jacob Pritchard were awarded the helpers.

The tie game was short-lived as Green Bay struck again two minutes later on the heels of Anthony Walsh's second of the season.

Both teams exchanged power-play goals in the second period. Nick Schmaltz gave Green Bay a 3-1 lead 5:42 into frame 2 with his 18th of the season. At the 16:58 mark, Alex Talcott scored his ninth of the season on a beautiful tip of a Jason Salvaggio centering pass. Josh Jacobs also earned an assist on the power-play goal, which pulled the Ice back to with one at 3-2.

The final frame only saw one biscuit find it's way into the basket with Green Bay's Matthew Weis notching his team-leading 21st of the year, again, on the power-play.

The 6,404 in attendance gave Indiana the league's #1 and #3 single-game attendance marks for the 2013-2014 season following a 12,100 showing at the Ice's 20th annual "Pack the House for Charity" night in early March.

The loss also puts Indiana on the outside looking in for the race the Anderson Cup as the overall regular-season champions.

The Ice wrap up their regular season tomorrow night in a road contest with the Chicago Steel. They kick-off the 2013-2014 Clark Cup playoffs next Saturday, April 11 at Pan Am Pavilion against a team to-be-determined. Faceoff is at 7:05.
