Green Bay Signs Colin Fitzgerald to USHL Tender Agreement
April 11, 2024 - United States Hockey League (USHL) News Release
The Green Bay Gamblers announced today that they have signed righthand-shooting center Colin Fitzgerald to a USHL tender agreement for the 2024-25 season.
A product of the Peterboro (Ont.) Petes 16U AAA organization where he had 39 goals and 25 assists for 64 points in 35 games this year, Fitgerald has been described as a shoot-first player who makes good decisions.
The 6-1, 180 lb., Fitzgerald had 13 goals and eight assists for 21 points in eight OHL Cup playoff games and was named to the OHL Cup All-Star Team.
"We are thrilled that Colin is a part of the Gamblers organization," said Mike Leone, Green Bay's Head Coach and General Manager. "He's a power forward with the size, skill, intelligence and maturity to make a real impact on our team and league next season. Colin's winning attitude and proven ability to make plays and provide a physical presence is a welcome addition to our hockey club. We could not be happier to welcome him and his family to Green Bay."
"I am very pleased and excited to continue my hockey development path with a great organization like Green Bay," said Fitzgerald. "I look forward to working with Coach Leone and his staff who have been instrumental in this process. I really appreciate this opportunity and look forward to helping the team any way I can. I can't wait to get started."
The USHL tender process allows teams to sign up to two 2008 birth year players in exchange for their first and second-round picks in the 2024 USHL Phase I Draft. As a result of signing Fitzgerald the Gamblers surrender their first-round pick in Phase I of the USHL Draft this upcoming spring. Each tendered player will be on their respective team's roster the next season and play at least 55% of the team's regular season games.
