HARRISON, NJ - National Women's Soccer League clubs NJ/NY Gotham FC and the Washington Spirit are bringing the game closer to fans in a neighboring state, as two sides today confirmed that they will face off against each other at Subaru Park - home of Major League Soccer's Philadelphia Union - on Sunday, July 28, as a part of the first-ever NWSL x LIGA MX Femenil Summer Cup. The match is set to kick off at 6 p.m. ET.
Season Ticket members for all three clubs - Gotham FC, the Washington Spirit, and the Philadelphia Union - will have access to a priority presale that opens on Monday, May 6 at 10 a.m. and closes on Thursday, May 9 at 12 p.m. ET. At noon on May 9, tickets to the match will be available to the general public.
"Playing in the Philadelphia area provides a very exciting opportunity on multiple fronts for the club," said Gotham FC General Manager Head of Soccer Operations Yael Averbuch West. "We have the opportunity to play against a very tough league opponent at a great field at Subaru Park. At the same time, we get to play in the backyard of fans who travel to Red Bull Arena to watch us, and, hopefully, we can gain some new Gotham FC fans in the process."
As a part of the tournament that provides meaningful competitive opportunities for players in both the NWSL and LIGA MX Femenil, each club will play three matches in the Group Stage. Then, the four-team semifinal round will take place the week of Aug. 4, with the championship match slated for the weekend of October 25-27.
