Gotham FC Expands Investment in Player Development with Pro Player Pathway Initiative

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (June 22, 2026) - Gotham FC shared on Monday an overview of its new Pro Player Pathway, a comprehensive development ecosystem designed to create a clear and structured route from elite youth soccer to the professional game.

The Pro Player Pathway represents Gotham's long-term commitment to player development and talent identification. The initiative features the Gotham FC Development Center and Residency Program; showcase opportunities through the Gotham FC Alliance of regional youth clubs; and plans to launch a U23 team featuring emerging first-team players.

Unveiling the PPP comes as part of a transformational summer for Gotham FC, including plans to construct the first dedicated training facility in club history. Targeted for completion in summer 2027, the facility will provide dedicated resources and infrastructure to support young athletes throughout the pathway.

"Through our Pro Player Pathway, we are committed to building the clearest bridge from elite youth talent to the professional game, especially in our region," said Yael Averbuch West, Gotham FC president of soccer operations. "This initiative allows us to invest in developing the whole player and person through training, education, housing, support and meaningful competition. It is a program I would have dreamed to be part of myself as an aspiring professional coming up in this area."

The Pro Player Pathway is built around several key pillars:

Gotham FC Alliance: Strategic collaboration with elite clubs focused on talent identification while raising standards of player development in youth soccer.

Talent Identification: Annual showcase events connected to the Gotham FC Alliance and a deep national network will help identify top players from across the region and beyond.

Development Center: Fall and spring programming for U16 and U18 players will provide an early entry point into Gotham's professional development structure.

First Team Exposure: Elite prospects will have opportunities to train within Gotham FC's first-team environment.

A central component of the pathway is the Development Center Residency Program, the first fully funded professional residency program in the United States for aspiring professional women's soccer players. In association with supportive local partnerships, the program will provide housing, educational support, professional development resources and a high-performance training environment.

"To accelerate the growth of women's soccer, we are creating a professionalized environment that unlocks new opportunities for aspiring young players and develops the future of this league," said Pierre Soubrier, Gotham FC's director of professional player pathway. "The launch of our Residency Program marks a pivotal milestone for development in this country. As this initiative expands, we remain deeply committed to supporting our local Alliance clubs as they guide top talent through this pathway."

The initiative also expands the reach of the Gotham FC Alliance, launched in 2024 to connect Gotham FC with youth clubs throughout the region. Through the Alliance, Gotham FC provides talent identification opportunities, coaching education and development resources to help strengthen the women's soccer landscape.
