Goldklang Group To Name Futures League Team Pittsfield Suns

FLORHAM PARK, NJ-- (February 28, 2012) - Historic Wahconah Park's newest tenant will be named the Pittsfield Suns, as the Goldklang Group has added the collegiate baseball team to their roster of distinguished ball clubs. Located is Pittsfield, Massachusetts, the Suns will join the Futures League, a premiere collegiate league that provides student-athletes the opportunity to compete and play with elite players throughout the New England area.

The Suns Front Office will be led by a familiar name, as Jamie Keefe (bio attached) has accepted the position of General Manager. "In the baseball industry, the Goldklang Group has a reputation as a first-rate organization to work for, and more importantly learn from," stated Keefe. "I am honored the Goldklang Group has given me an opportunity in this wonderful baseball market, and I am excited to lead this organization in Pittsfield". Keefe will be joined by Assistant General Manager, Kevin McGuire and Director of Client Services Jackie Wendling for the Suns 2012 inaugural season.

"As a homeowner in the area for over thirty years, our family has had an eye on baseball in general, and Wahconah Park in particular for some time. When the opportunity arose for us to place a club in Pittsfield we jumped at the chance," said Jeff Goldklang, Suns owner and Managing Director for the Group. "We intend to honor the tradition and history of the game in Pittsfield, while adding heavy doses of smiles and laughs."

Tyler Tumminia, Suns co-owner and Senior Vice President of the Group adds, "We are excited to get this wonderful community involved. There's a lot of history with baseball in Pittsfield, and we are eager to enhance that with our own brand of entertainment. We have a different business model, highlighted by our signature and often times unconventional promotional initiatives...It's an experience we are providing in addition to a ballgame."

Pittsfield Mayor Daniel Bianchi, added to the excitement in stating, "I'm looking forward to the Suns coming to Pittsfield and providing a great baseball experience for the community and visitors."

The Futures League bring emphasis to the New England community and University sports systems as 15 of the 30 players on the clubs roster must reside in New England or attend a two or four year New England College or University. The remaining roster may be a mix of players attending a two or four year college within the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada or a Commissioner approved school.

The Suns will play a total of 54 games throughout the months of June through August, 27 of which will be held at Wahconah Park (schedule attached). The Suns will be operated under the Group's Be Your Own Fan initiative, which focuses on a customized fan experience and family-affordable entertainment with a twist.
