Gold Kings Announce Promotions
Colorado Springs, CO - The Colorado Gold Kings have named Al Pedersen general manager in addition to his head coaching duties and have promoted Jeff Newman to President of Colorado Pro Sports, LLC.
The 37-year-old Pedersen guided the Gold Kings to a 39-26-7 record last year, the second-best regular season mark in club history. Pedersen, who played the bulk of his 428 NHL games with the Boston Bruins, also reached the 200-win plateau as a professional head coach with a 4-2 decision over Tacoma March 9th. Meanwhile, Newman has overseen an organization that has broken its record for single season attendance in two of the last three years.
"All we're doing is assigning job duties that are more representative of what we really do," Newman said. "Al has been the guiding force behind the restructuring of our roster and I believe he simply fits the role of 'general manager' better than I do."
Colorado averaged nearly 3,800 fans (a 10% increase from the 2000-01 season) in only its fourth year at the Colorado Springs World Arena.
The Colorado Gold Kings currently are taking orders for 2002-03 season tickets, starting at only $395 for all regular season and playoff games. Please call (719) 268-7172 for more ticket information or visit the official website at www.coloradogoldkings.com.
