
Gnats Lose Rivera, Add Rodriguez

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Sand Gnats utility infielder Luis Rivera has been placed on the Brooklyn Cyclones roster and replaced by infielder Joaquin Rodriguez, the New York Mets announced Wendesday. Rivera will remain with the team in Savannah as Brooklyn's season does not start until June 19.
Rodriguez will join the Gnats after spending the first two months of the season in extended spring training. He has not appeared in any official minor league games yet this season. The 6-foot-3-inch infielder hit .292 in 30 games as a third baseman and shortstop in the Gulf Coast League in 2006. As a junior at Jackson State University in 2006, Rodriguez hit .457, third best in Division I. That year he was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Year and Most Outstanding Hitter
Rivera has hit .206 with no home runs and three RBI in 15 games this year with Savannah.
