
Gnats change pitching coaches

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The New York Mets named Jonathan Hurst pitching coach for the Sand Gnats Thursday morning. Dan Murray, who was originally announced as the Gnats pitching coach last month, will be reassigned to St. Lucie of the Florida State League.
Hurst was drafted by the Texas Rangers in 1987 and traded to Montreal for Oil Can Boyd in 1991. He pitched 10 innings for the Mets in 1994 and also spent some time pitching in Japan.
The Sand Gnats open the season on April 5 at home with a 7:05 p.m. Thirsty Thursday game against the Asheville Tourists. Tickets and a complete schedule are available at www.sandgnats.com.
