Washington Glory News Release
CHANTILLY, VA -- Erin Evans, Lindsay Gardner and Sandy Vojik each hit a two-run home run to lead Rockford to a 7-2 victory over the Glory on Friday night at the Westfield Softball Complex.
Vojik and Evans each hit their second home runs of the season while Garnder hit her third. The threesome of home runs out shadowed Oli Keohohou's blast in the fourth inning tying her with teammate Courtney Bures for the league lead in home runs with eight.
The lone run not scored via the long ball came in the third when Tonya Callahan delivered an RBI single that chased starter Desiree Serrano (7-5). Allison Kime (5-3) pitched into the seventh inning and Cassidy Scoggins closed it out with a pair of runners on base and the Glory threatening. It was fit that third baseman Shanna Diller (3-for-3, run) made the catch for the final out as she didn't realize it was in her glove right away. Diller made several nice plays defensively in the game to keep the Glory off the board including snaring a line drive off the bat of Jessica Moore to end the fifth.
The Glory fall to 19-11 and are eight games over .500 on the season while Rockford gets back to within two games of .500, improving to 12-14 on the season.
The victory by Rockford broke Washington's five-game winning streak over Rockford in Washington.
