
Gladiators Spoil Soul Home Opener with 68-62 Win

PHILADELPHIA - The Cleveland Gladiators defeated the Philadelphia Soul on Sunday night, 68-62 in front of a raucous crowd of 15,328 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. The Gladiators (2-1) earned the all-important East Division win and handed the Soul (2-1) their first loss of the season.
Gladiators quarterback John Dutton completed 29-of-39 passes for 305 yards and nine touchdowns. His lone interception was returned for a Soul touchdown. The Gladiators record for most passing touchdowns in a single-game is 10, set by Dutton in 2010 versus the Orlando Predators.
Dominick Goodman had an outstanding night, with 11 receptions for 121 yards and five touchdowns. The five-touchdown performance marks the fourth time a Gladiators receiver has hauled in five scores in a single-game. Robert Redd also caught 11 passes for 102 yards and two touchdowns, while Thyron Lewis accounted for the other two receiving touchdowns.
Defensively, Tim Cheatwood intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble in the win. The Gladiators have now intercepted a pass in each game this season.
For the Soul, Dan Radabaugh completed 21-of-29 passes for 265 yards and six touchdowns. Tiger Jones led all receivers with 141 receiving yards on eight catches. All-Arena player Donovan Morgan was held to just three catches for 15 yards.
