Gladiators Sign Former Browns Receiver Steve Sanders

CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Gladiators have signed former Cleveland Browns wide receiver STEVE SANDERS, the team announced, today. With 2010 training camp underway, Sanders is vying for a spot on head coach Steve Thonn's final roster, which will be announced on March 26.

Sanders (6-3, 215, Bowling Green) graduated from Cleveland's East High School and was a standout at Bowling Green State University. During his time as a Falcon, Sanders finished his career seventh all-time in BGSU history with 156 receptions and 2,324 receiving yards, fourth with 24 touchdown receptions, and 10th with 25 total touchdowns.

In 2006, he signed as an undrafted free agent with the Cleveland Browns. He spent time on the Browns practice squad and was promoted to the active roster on November 1, 2008. He appeared in five games for the Browns, catching one pass for 18 yards. In 2009, Sanders played for the New York Sentinels of the United Football League, totaling 15 receptions for 143 yards and one touchdown.

With the addition of Sanders, the Gladiators now have four of BGSU's top 12 wide receivers who reached 1,000 or more receiving yards in their careers. CHARLES SHARON (1st with 3,450 yards), COLE MAGNER (6th with 2,385 yards), SANDERS (7th with 2,324 yards) and COREY PARTRIDGE (12th with 1,990 yards).
