Gladiators Re-Sign Leading Receiver Goodman
December 14, 2012 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Cleveland Gladiators News Release
The Cleveland Gladiators announced today the re-signing of wide receiver Dominick Goodman, who led the team in both receptions and receiving yards the past two seasons. Goodman signed a three-year deal, through the 2015 season.
The 2013 season will be Goodman's third with the Gladiators and in the Arena Football League. As a rookie in 2011, he led the team in receptions (120) and receiving yards (1,300) and recorded 13 touchdowns.
Goodman followed that up with a stellar sophomore year in 2012, again leading the Gladiators in both categories (170 rec / 1,782 yds), and earning Second Team All-Arena honors. In 2012 he set the single season franchise record for receptions, as well as tied the single game franchise mark with 17 catches against Jacksonville on April 21st. Goodman racked up 34 receiving touchdowns in 2012, plus added another on the ground. He averaged 4.7 yards on seven total carries last season.
"We are extremely excited to have Dominick back as a Gladiator next season. He proved last season to be one of the best receivers in our league and we look forward to continuing that success next year," said Gladiators head coach Steve Thonn. "As a free agent we know he had other opportunities and we are glad he decided to return to Cleveland, knowing he will play a key role on our team moving forward."
A 2008 graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Goodman finished his four-year Bearcat career with 204 receptions for 2,512 yards and 22 touchdowns.
The 2013 Gladiators roster currently stands at 28 players.
