Gladiators Escape Jungle With 77-70 Victory In OT

ORLANDO - The Cleveland Gladiators defeated the Orlando Predators in overtime, 77-70, at Amway Arena in front of 10,101 fans. With the win, the Gladiators move to 6-7 and keep its playoffs hopes alive in the National Conference, while the Predators drop to 5-7.

The Gladiators jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and held a seven point lead headed into the half. After extending the lead to 14 to open the second half Cleveland needed a five-yard Dutton to Holmes touchdown with seven seconds left on the clock to bring the game into overtime.

Cleveland scored first in overtime to take a 77-70 lead. Orlando failed to convert on fourth down the following possession as Bobby Sippio dropped the ball. Sippio finished the game with five touchdowns on nine receptions for 147 yards.

John Dutton completed 36-of-53 passing for 411 yards and 10 touchdowns. His 10 touchdowns set a franchise single-game high. The offensive player of the game for Cleveland was receiver Brent Holmes who led all receivers with 199 yards on 12 receptions with five touchdowns, he also added 51 yards on kickoff returns for a total of 250 all-purpose yards. Ben Nelson caught 17 passes for 163 yards and two touchdowns.

Orlando's Nick Hill completed 21-of-35 passes for 291 yards and seven touchdowns while throwing one interception.
