CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Gladiators have signed DB ALPHONSO HODGE to their active roster from their practice squad, the club announced today. In addition, the Gladiators have signed AFL veteran DB KAHLIL CARTER. Per club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Hodge (5-9, 203, Miami OHIO) was originally signed to the Gladiators practice squad on April 8, 2008. An Arena Football League rookie, Hodge was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fifth-round (147th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft. He spent 2005 with the Chiefs but did not appear in any games. Hodge spent the 2006 season with the Chiefs on injured reserve. He was released by the Chiefs and signed by the New York Jets for the 2007 season, but did not appear in any games.

Hodge graduated from St. Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio in 2000. A three-year letter-winner, Hodge earned All-State honors during his senior season for the Eagles. He will make his Gladiators debut in on Saturday night versus the Los Angeles Avengers.

Carter (6-0, 185, Southern Arkansas) began the 2008 season with the Kansas City Brigade and was placed on injured reserve on February 25. He did not see any action before being released on March 28. The four-year AFL veteran has spent time with the Milwaukee Mustangs, Toronto Phantoms, Nashville Kats and Orlando Predators prior to his stint with the Brigade.

The Cleveland Gladiators return home on Friday, May 2 when they host Jon Bon Jovi's Philadelphia Soul on $10 Buck Night.
