
Gladiators Acquire Lawrence; Johnson Released

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that they have acquired defenseman Jason Lawrence from the Charlotte Checkers in exchange for future considerations. In a separate transaction, the Gladiators have released goaltender Josh Johnson.
Lawrence comes to the Gladiators from the Checkers where he has appeared in 7 games posting one goal and one assist for two points. He has also tallied two penalty minutes while with the Checkers.
The first year pro out of Boston University, helped the Terriers capture the 2008-09 NCAA Championship. He led BU in goals with 25 and ranked 5th on the team in points with 39 during the 2008-09 season. In 158 career collegiate games with BU, Lawrence notched 46 goals and 97 points.
The Gladiators waived Johnson who appeared in 3 games this season with Gwinnett posting a 2-1-0 record while recording a 2.67 goals against average and a.902 save percentage.
Lawrence should be available for the Gladiators for Thursday's Thanksgiving match up against the Charlotte Checkers at the Arena at Gwinnett Center a 7:05 p.m.
The Gladiators continue their 7th season in the ECHL on Thanksgiving night as they host the Charlotte Checkers at the Arena at Gwinnett Center at 7:05 p.m.. The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and Columbus Blue Jackets and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
