Philadelphia Charge News Release

VILLANOVA, PA (July 12, 2002) - The Philadelphia Charge will be hosting a Girl Scouts' Overnight Camp Out following their game on Saturday, July 20 at Villanova Stadium. Approximately 500 Girl Scouts are expected to attend the Charge's game against the Carolina Courage and then stay at the stadium for a night filled of fun and events.

This is the first Girl Scouts' Camp Out in league history. The Charge, who have a number of great promotional nights and a Fun Zone during the game to keep fans entertained, are expecting their field to be packed with Girl Scouts, who will also be singing the National Anthem prior to the game's 4 pm start time.

Immediately after the contest between the league's top two clubs, the Girls Scouts will be treated to "Women in Sports Night," when Charge assistant coach Pia Sundhage and Philadelphia 76ers senior vice president Lara White will address the group about their varying experiences in sports. Sundhage spent 21 years on the Swedish national soccer team, while White has been an executive with the Sixers' organization since 1996.

The night will continue with current Charge forward Erin Martin addressing the Girl Scouts. Martin is a former Girl Scout and she will speak to the group about how her experiences helped her while growing up.

The Girl Scouts will then have a personal autograph session with the Charge players and then take part in a Skills Challenge on the stadium field. Following a short break, the group will be entertained by a movie on the Charge's video board.

Charge representatives along with Girl Scout leaders will be on hand to supervise the group overnight.

On Sunday morning, Got Milk and Dunkin Donuts have generously donated products for breakfast.
